QUICK FURNACE TIPS
Check Thermostat
Be sure thermostat is in the on position for heat. It must be set higher than room temp. by at least 5º.
Breaker
Breaker must be in an on position, turn it all the way off then back on again to be sure it is on correctly.
Furnace Blower
Furnace blower door has a safety switch. If the blower panel door is not installed correctly, all power to furnace will disconnect.
Pilot Light
Flame should range 1/2" to 1 1/2" with up to three separate flames. If out, you can relight or call a service tech to relight it.
Filter & Blower Wheel
A dirty filter or dirt caked blower wheel will decrease heat flow. Replace filter and call a service tech to clean blower wheel.
Uneven Room Temps
Shut down vent in closets and bathrooms, to force air to rooms needing more heat. Heat rises, if the downstairs rooms are cold, close vents upstairs 1/2 or all the way as needed to balance temperature.
Air Returns
Clear Keep 2' of free space in front of them to keep airflow into the duct system. Vacuum vents regularly when replacing filters.
Unnatural Odor
Carbon Monoxide has no smell but may be accompanied by other gasses. Call for service.
Noises Strange Noises, Explosions or Bangs Is a sign of a problem. Call for service. An unbalanced blower wheel, will only result in large replacement expense.
Constant on/off of system Going on/off very quickly or on for a long period of time Needs adjusting, call for service.

QUICK AIR CONDITIONER TIPS
Air not blowing cold Turn A/C breaker off and back on.
No air from vents, system running 1. Change air filters. 2. Turn unit off for 8 hours to melt ice.
Uneven Temperatures Shut down vents in closet, bathrooms, or in the coolest rooms to force air to rooms needing more cool air
3/4" PVC pipe is dripping 1. Call for service. 2. Service agreements can reduce this from happening.
No air or sound from Unit Set thermostat to COOL, and turn thermostat down until unit comes on. Check Breakers.
Water dripping from vents. Change air filters and/or open vent more.
Ice on copper pipes at A/C Turn unit off 8 hours to melt ice. Check filter. If filter is clean, call for service.
Water dripping from ceiling Turn off unit now. Call for service. Protect your floor with something to catch water, the overflow pan is full and not draining.
A/C Runs Constantly THIS IS NORMAL. The unit can only cool down the house 20 below outside temperature. (ex.100 outside-20 =80 in house.) If outside temperature is below 90 , call for service.
A/C not running outside. Wait for green light to come back on by electric company, if there was a power interruption. Turn A/C breaker off and on.
